Spirit Spotlight: Maple Cream Liquor and Maple Whisky

Maple Cream Liquor and Maple Whisky
Are Coming Soon
A First Look at Two New Canadian Maple Releases

END OF FEBRUARY RELEASE

Maple season is right around the corner — and at Wolfhead Distillery, it marks the release of two spirits rooted in time, craftsmanship, and one very Canadian ingredient.

Introducing Maple Cream Liquor and Maple Whisky — two distinct expressions shaped by patience, balance, and a story that began more than five years ago.

A Maple Story Years in the Making

Back in 2020, Wolfhead partnered with the former Giffin’s Maple Syrup of Blenheim, Ontario to create something truly unique: whisky barrel-aged maple syrup.

Freshly emptied Wolfhead whisky barrels were delivered to Giffin’s sugar bush, where their maple syrup was aged inside the barrels for three months. The result was a beautifully layered maple syrup kissed with whisky character — rich, warm, and unmistakably Canadian.

When the syrup was bottled, those same barrels came back home to Wolfhead.

We filled them again — this time with whisky — and let them rest for 5.5 years.

That long, patient aging process became the foundation for both of these new releases. The whisky matured inside barrels that once held maple syrup, allowing subtle maple character to naturally infuse the spirit over time.

That whisky now lives in both Maple Cream Liquor and Maple Whisky, connecting these two releases through a shared history.

Maple Cream Liquor (Seasonal Release)

Wolfhead Maple Cream Liquor is smooth, layered, and crafted for easy enjoyment. From the first pour, it shows a soft texture and gentle maple character that feels familiar without leaning overly sweet.

Warm maple notes are supported by fresh cream and subtle whisky undertones. The result is balanced and approachable, with a clean finish that keeps the sweetness in check.

Tasting Notes
• Soft maple and vanilla on the nose
• Creamy, rounded palate with pancake-style sweetness
• Smooth finish with gentle warmth

Maple Cream is best enjoyed neat or over ice, but it also fits naturally into coffee, hot chocolate, or simple dessert cocktails. It’s an easy after-dinner pour and a natural choice for anyone who enjoys cream liqueurs with balance.

This is a seasonal release, crafted to celebrate maple season — and one we plan to bring back each year as part of Wolfhead’s winter lineup.

Maple Whisky (Limited Release)

Maple Whisky takes a more structured approach. This is a whisky-forward expression where maple plays a supporting role rather than the lead.

On the nose, oak, light caramel, and gentle spice come first, followed by a measured maple note. The palate stays true to that structure, with whisky character upfront and maple adding warmth without masking the spirit.

Tasting Notes
• Oak, caramel, and subtle maple aroma
• Balanced sweetness with pure Ontario maple syrup
• Warm, lightly spiced finish

Maple Whisky works beautifully neat or on ice and shines in simple cocktails where the maple note can replace added sugar. It’s an easy transition for whisky drinkers looking for something familiar with a Canadian twist.

This is a limited release, drawn from a finite number of barrels that spent over five years developing their maple influence. Once it’s gone, it won’t be repeated in this form.

Choosing Your Maple

Both releases showcase maple in different ways.

Maple Cream Liquor leans toward comfort and softness, making it ideal for relaxed evenings and dessert pours.
Maple Whisky offers structure and balance, designed for slow sipping and classic whisky moments.

One celebrates the season.
The other captures a moment in time.

Arriving This February

Both Maple Cream Liquor and Maple Whisky arrive late February, with pre-orders open now.

You’ll be able to find them online and at Wolfhead Distillery once released. More details will be shared as these bottles move closer to launch.

Until then, consider this your first look at what’s next — two maple releases shaped by time, tradition, and Canadian craftsmanship.
